Bruce has started up the Scarlet and Black Pipe Band in Cedar City. Visit them at http://scarletandblackbagpipeband.com
Jeremy Barclay - Piper
Jeremy began learning the pipes from his grandfather (David Barclay) when he was 8 years old. As a member of the Utah Pipe Band for the past 22 years, he has participated in countless parades, performances, and competitions throughout the Western United States and Canada.
He is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Westminster College and works as a Corporate Instructor for SkyWest Airlines. When Jeremy is not working or at school (very seldom), he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching and participating in sports, and playing with the band.
Andrew Barclay - Piper
I started learning the pipes at a young age from my grandfather, David Barclay, and have played with the band for many years. One of my best piping memories is performing in Brigadoon at my junior high school with my grandfather.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son. I look forward to playing in the band for many years to come and teaching my son to pipe when he is old enough.
I have been standing in for Dave Phillips as most handsome piper in the band while he is away on his mission.
Jeff Barclay - Bass drummer
Brandon Barclay - Piper
DeAnn Goodman - Pipe Major I have been playing pipes since 1984. I took lessons from Jerry Chatwin (Payson High School), David Barclay (Utah Pipe Band), and Rob Menzies (Triumph Street Pipe Band). My band experience includes Payson High School Pipe Band, (I was pipe major my Sr. year), then at SUU with the Scarlet and Black Pipe Band. After college I played briefly with White Peaks Centennial Pipe Band before finally joining the Utah Pipe Band.
I am currently the pipe major of the Utah Pipe Band and working on getting back into solo competing.
Aside from piping I have a degree in Interior Decorating and I enjoy spending time with my husband Dan and 6 kids, skiing, sailing, reading, needle work, travel, learning French, buying shoes, and browsing book stores.
I've started writing a book, it should be done by June 2008, ask me about it or go to the link in our link section.
Thomas Z. McOmie - Piper I have played with the Utah Pipe Band since 2004. I play a set of Loch-Haven bagpipes. We have a lot of cool people like DeAnn and some of my family in the band like Earl, Vanessa, Andy, Stephanie, Alex, and Zyan. It makes trips with the band a lot of fun. If we can go fly fishing we do. I always loved the pipes so I learned to play them AND chicks dig them. I mean my wife likes them alot. I took lessons from David Barclay who I look up to alot. He was a kind and humble man who was a true friend. My wife's name is Julee and I have a boy named Zera (DeAnn calls him "mini-me" because he looks JUST like me) and a Scottie dog named McHaggis (who comes to parades and competitions occasionally). I also love to fly fish, go wheeling, build custom fly rods, skateboard, shoot guns and laugh. I started raising Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus). Some a my favorites are Jim and John the two red fluffy ones. Some of them run fast and bite like Mike, Chubbs, and Jeff. If I had to pick one to eat it would be Alex. I know I am funnier then Carlos, Mike, and Andy. JUST KIDDING! Don't want to make them cry. Some of my favorite bands are the Dropkick Murphy's and The Real Mckinzies. |
Dave Phillips - Piper Dave and his wife Myrna are on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Boston, MA area. We wish them the best and look forward to their safe return.
Dan Harding - Piper Dan has been playing the pipes for many years. He enjoys playing for both a fun hobby and to honor his
Scottish and Irish ancestors. He studied locally under Dave Keachie and Andrew Morrill and spent some years
in Southern California studying under Ian Whitelaw.
Dan's claim to fame is that the bagpipes in the movie "The Rundown", starring the Rock, are actually his.
Besides piping, he likes being with family, fishing, and working. He is a cruel task master who enslaved his own son to type this in a kind of indentured servitude.

Dave Daines - Piper I have been playing bagpipes for a couple of years. I always loved bagpipe music so one year for Father's Day my wife bought me the practice chanter and lesson. Joe’s other habits are camping, hiking, and fly fishing in the spectacular wilds of Utah with his wife and four children. His work trips always seem to land on band rehearsal nights. Joe’s bagpipes were made by Ashley Boyle, and no, he won’t trade them for your 1868 Henderson’s.
Carlos Viitanen - Piper I have been playing bagpipes for a year. I absolutely love it! I also play the violin, it was my first instrument. I've always loved the bagpipes and I had a lot of bagpipe CDs. I just love the sound, and that's why I really wanted to learn to play the pipes. DeAnn Goodman is my teacher. She's awesome!
